Dr. Parveen Saini awarded the CSIR Young Scientist Award 2013 in Engineering Sciences

The CSIR Young Scientist Award for the year 2013 in the Engineering Sciences has been awarded to Dr Parveen Saini of CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi for his significant contribution related to the development of conducting polymer based EMI shielding materials, antistatic coatings and anticorrosive paints as well as fundamental contribution in the area of conjugated polymers and polymer nanocomposites.

Dr. Parveen Saini received B. Tech. degree in Polymer Science and Chemical Technology from prestigious Delhi College of Engineering and Ph.D in Polymer and Engineering from IIT Delhi. He is also the recipient of prestigious Bharat Jyoti Award-2013, from IIFS, India for excellence in Sciences. He has also won several other awards including the ‘Best Oral Presentation Award’ in FACC-2009, Delhi. He joined CSIR-NPL in 2004 and since then has been working in Conducting Polymers Group of Materials Physics and Engineering Division on the development of conjugated polymer, carbon nanotubes and graphene based nanocomposites for EMI shielding, anticorrosive and antistatic applications as well as for water purification and supercapacitors.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Srivastava awarded the CSIR Young Scientist Award 2013 in Physical Sciences

The CSIR Young Scientist Award for the year 2013 in Physical Sciences (including instrumentation) has been awarded to Dr Sanjay Kumar Srivastava of CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi for development of simple processes for large area fabrication of silicon nanowires and nano-scale textured silicon with very low surface reflectivity towards realization of efficient solar cells.

Dr. Srivastava received M.Sc. (Physics) degree from Banaras Hindu University, M. Tech. (Materials Science & Engineering) from IIT Bombay and Ph.D in Physics from IIT Delhi. He is the recipient of prestigious BOYSCAST fellowship from Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India to work at Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, Erlangen, Germany. He has also won several best paper awards including the ‘Young investigator Award’ in International conference on Next generation Solar Energy, in Germany. He Joined CSIR-NPL in 2007 and since then has been working in Silicon Solar Cells Group of Physics of Energy Harvesting Division on development of efficient silicon solar cells using novel nanostructuring schemes for efficient light harvesting.
