Regional Warning Centre(RWC) of India for Space Environment

Introduction
The Regional Warning Centres, as part of International Space Environment Service (ISES) chain, are responsible for collection and dissemination of recent observational data on solar geophysical conditions to users within the country and around the globe. A data exchange schedule operates with each centre providing and relaying data to the other centres. The centre in Boulder plays a special role as "World Warning Agency", acting as a hub for data exchange and forecasts.

At present, there are 23 Regional Warning Centres scattered around the globe. These centres are ASWFC (Australia), KSO (Austria), SIDC (Belgium), EMBRACE (Brazil), CSWFC (Canada), NSSC (China), IAP (Czech Republic), DLR (Germany), NPL (India)'s RWCIndia-SE , SWIFtS (Indonesia), NICT (Japan), KSWC, (Republic of Korea), SCiESMEX (Mexico), SRC (Poland), IAG (Russia), SANSA (South Africa), LSWC (Sweden), MOSWOC (UK), SWPC (USA), ESA (Europe), NOSWE (Norway), FMI (Finland), LAMP (Argentina)

Details:

I. Introduction :
Indian RWC issues a daily message at 1500 hrs IST (0930 UTC) every day consisting of actual observations obtained during the previous 24-36 hours and a forecast on solar and geophysical conditions valid for the following 1 or 2 days.

This consolidated message based on the information received from different centers is made available to users by e-mail. In addition special forecasts are issued on abnormal geophysical conditions, e.g. Geomagnetic storms. Special forecasts are also provided during nationally coordinated scientific programs.

II. Outgoing Messages :
RWC -India, New Delhi, issues a daily message at 1500 hrs IST (0930 UTC) containing solar geophysical observations made on the previous day and a forecast for the following 24-48 hours. This message is broadcast daily on IMD on 14 MHz [day time] and 7 MHz [night time] at hourly intervals. Special warnings on abnormal Magnetic conditions are also issued.

III. Format of Daily Messages :
Daily Message to users at 1500 IST includes the following information:
1. RELATIVE SUNSPOT NUMBER
2. 10.7 CM SOLAR FLUX
3. GEOMAGNETIC Ak INDEX
3.1. EXPECTED SOLAR ACTIVITY
3.2. EXPECTED GEOMAGNETIC CONDITIONS
4. Other Details.
